Our Assessment Process
At Everest Clinic, every assessment is unique, tailored to meet your needs and provide you with the most accurate diagnosis in the shortest time and at the best possible cost. Our assessments, led by experienced Clinical Psychologists, follow the gold-standard practices set out in the UK NICE Guidelines and are designed to help you turn challenges into achievements.

Free Discovery Call
Considering an assessment can bring up many different feelings. You may be looking for answers, greater understanding or guidance about what to do next. Whatever has brought you to us, we want you to feel heard, respected and safe from the very beginning.
During your Discovery Call, a Clinical Psychologist will listen to what matters to you, explore the questions you would like answered and explain how our assessment process could support you. You will have time to talk through your concerns and ask any questions without pressure to proceed.
We will only recommend an assessment if we believe it is appropriate and likely to be helpful. If our service does not meet your needs, or this is not the right time for an assessment, we will explain this thoughtfully and will not refer you to the next stage. If you decide to continue, we will arrange your Clinical Interview and Screening Session and send you some questionnaires to complete beforehand.
Clinical Interview and Screening Session
This two-hour, face-to-face appointment takes place at our clinic in Leamington Spa. It is a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental conversation in which you can share your experiences in your own words. Here a Clinical Psychologist will take time to understand what life is like for you or your family member. Together, you will explore current concerns, developmental and health history, emotional wellbeing and the impact of these experiences on everyday life.
We are interested in the whole person—not simply a set of symptoms. Alongside any difficulties, we will recognise strengths, capabilities, achievements and the strategies that are already helping. This conversation, together with the completed questionnaires, helps us consider whether a full diagnostic assessment would be appropriate and useful for you.
A diagnosis is not given at this stage, as this requires information from the full assessment process. We will only recommend moving forward if the information gathered suggests that a full assessment for ADHD, autism, or both would be clinically helpful.
Assessment Sessions
Where a full assessment is recommended, we will plan the sessions and assessment tools that best reflect your individual needs. These face-to-face sessions are designed to build a comprehensive picture of your experiences, strengths and support needs. Our differential diagnosis process will explore how any difficulties affect daily life and consider whether there may be other factors or conditions contributing to your experiences.
For school-aged children and young people, autism and combined assessments may include a school visit or meeting. This helps us understand how they experience school, including their strengths, needs and any support that may help them thrive.
The assessment phase is usually completed over one to three sessions. The number and length of sessions will depend on your pathway—ADHD, autism or combined—and the assessment tools most appropriate for you.
Diagnostic Report and Feedback Session
After your assessment sessions our clinical team will bring everything together in a detailed diagnostic report. Typically 20–30 pages long, the report is written to be clear, practical and useful in everyday life.
Your report will include:
-
The outcome of your assessment and the psychologist’s clinical opinion
-
A balanced understanding of your strengths, experiences and difficulties
-
Results from the assessment tools
-
Recommended adjustments for home, education, work and daily life
-
Personalised recommendations for support, treatment and next steps
After receiving your report, you will be invited to a feedback session. This is your opportunity to talk through the findings, explore what they mean for you or your family member and ask any further questions. We want you to leave the process feeling informed, understood and clearer about what comes next.
Priority Service (Optional)
If your circumstances mean that you need a shorter assessment timeframe, our Priority Service may reduce the process to approximately four to eight weeks, depending on the pathway. This service is subject to availability and an additional fee.
Don't worry. Choosing the standard service will not affect the care, quality or thoroughness of your assessment.
